Health and fitness means feeling happy and strong in my own skin and who I am. Fitness is the song of the body and being able to move makes me feel alive, balanced, creative and in a positive mindset which helps me to feel happier and healthier through out my day-to-day life. Feeling healthy to me includes a number of things – exercise, nutrition, breathing, sleep and rest. Health and fitness for me is about aiming to keep the balance in these things in-between life’s every day commitments, whilst having fun, enjoying the little things and leading a healthy lifestyle.
Health and fitness has always been apart of my life, as a teenager I was always playing sports and eventually joined the gym, its something I’ve always been in tune and interested in. This led me to complete a Sport and Recreation degree at AUT. After doing the OE experience I landed myself into a Personal trainer role and fully immersed myself within the health and fitness industry. Unfortunately, the early morning late night grinds and long hours working as a PT and a start up business saw me pretty burnt out in my first 2 years of work with an extreme case of adrenal fatigue. Unfortunately my own health suffered working within the health industry. I learnt the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle the hard way. This has led me down the path of wanting to learn more about the importance of health and how stress can play a major role in our busy lives these days. I’m now studying Naturopathy to be able to empower other females to incorporate more of a holistic lifestyle for health and happiness.
What does SLG mean to you?
SLG is a community, a tight knit group of ladies a place where women can come to move their bodies through exercise and gain knowledge and support around wellness. Its a place to feel motivated and empowered to reach your health and fitness goals. SLG to me is a positive, supportive and creative, team environment.
What inspires you every day?
My clients, they are the reason I get up at 5am every morning, knowing that through my job I’m able to motivate and help others to maintain a healthy, active and balanced lifestyle.
One thing you can’t leave the house with?
I have 2 things – hand cream and lip balm, they both live in my handbag, gym bag and car haha!
